Overview[edit]
The Xenon I may be the most powerful M2+ in Albion Prelude. This ship's power rivals the ATF Valhalla, with massive forward firepower and massive shielding. Its introduction came concurrently with the Boron Megalodon, the Terran Kyoto and the ATF Valhalla Super Heavy Destroyers.
Background[edit]
This powerful destroyer has not been seen anywhere before. It closely follows the standard Xenon design principles, and appears to be a direct response to recent developments in the super-heavy destroyer field. The exact power and threat levels of this ship are not known, but it is advised to run as far away as possible at the first sight of this ship. Like all other Xenon ships, it still contains a redundant crew deck, theoretically enabling living creatures to pilot it.
Physical Characteristics[edit]
The basic shape of the Xenon I is similar to the Xenon K. It is a long flat destroyer, but its shiny black hull with its various red lights make it stand out compared to the other Xenon capital ships. The I's engine exhaust fumes are a unique pink color, not seen on any other capital ship.
A screenshot showing the I Xenon is available here.
Combat[edit]
The I has some of the strongest shields of any destroyer in Albion Prelude, at 12 GJ, and backed by the most powerful shield generators available, capable of recharging the shields effectively. In addition, the ship has incredible forward firepower, capable of bringing 10 PPCs or PSPs to bear on its front turret, backed up by the game's strongest laser generator. In addition, it is the only ship other than M7Ms capable of a Missile Barrage, which it can do with any of its compatible missiles. The I has only 3 launch tubes to a Missile Frigate's 16, but the additional firepower and wider missile selection makes the I a monster. This turret can also be used defensively if equiped with mosquito missiles to provide an extremely effective anti-missile defence.
The I lacks rear turrets, but it is flat enough that this blind spot is not completely safe to fly in.

Availability[edit]
Like other Xenon ships, it is possible to see the ship available for "sale" at Xenon shipyards, but it is never possible to actually land and purchase them, so the I must be boarded to capture. The I can be reverse engineered at a player headquarters, taking 45h31m. The I then becomes one of the least expensive major capital ships to build, just cheaper than the Pirate Galleon (which it hopelessly outclasses), and fully one third the cost of a Valhalla.
Suggested Roles[edit]
If you manage to capture a Xenon I, you have one of the strongest M2+ destroyers in your hands. Like other Xenon ships, it is frequently more useful in player hands than the AI, but it is deadly no matter its pilot.
