Overview[edit]
The Hermes is similar to the Boron Manta, trading a little speed for much improved defensive capability. It is by far the slowest TP in its class, with its speed roughly equivalent to that of the Teladi Kea, and even the Teladi Toucan beats it by being roughly 20 m/s faster.
Background[edit]
The Hermes is based on an old original design for the Ganymede, but the design was reworked to accommodate passengers. Like most Paranid ships it is able to hold a certain amount of weaponry, primarily for defense. It is very unlikely you will see this ship in Argon systems, mainly because the tension between the two neighbors remains high.
Physical Characteristics[edit]
Like most Commonwealth TPs, the Hermes is a variation on the race's TS model, in this case the Demeter. The modular cargo section is replaced with a passenger section.
Variants[edit]
Hermes[edit]
Not featuring any fancy title, the basic version of the ship is the standard by which other variants are measured.
Hermes Hauler[edit]
Hauler variants of ships tend to have larger cargobays and sometimes tougher defences, trading off offensive combat attributes.
Combat[edit]
The Hermes is less helpless in a fight than some other TP-class ships, but it is still a TP and should not be allowed into a firefight lightly.

Availability[edit]
At least one Hermes variant is available at most Paranid Shipyards.

Suggested Roles[edit]
The Hermes is not recommended to take for even passenger ferrying because it is dreadfully slow by Paranid and even Teladi standards. The Hauler variant isn't any better, marginally improving its speed at a mere 10 m/s. Thus, it is contemptuously treated by players as a curious novelty among TP-class craft.
