Overview[edit]
A reasonable freighter, the Demeter is slightly faster than its Argon counterpart the Mercury, but trading off a slightly smaller cargo bay.
Background[edit]
The Demeter has been used for some years now, replacing the old Paranid Ganymede model. It has improved on all of its predecessor's systems. This ship was first brought into service to serve only the Paranid Fleet, but later slowly replaced the Ganymede because of its speed to bring the Paranid economy back to the levels of the Argon and Boron.
Physical Characteristics[edit]
Like most Paranid ships, the Demeter is gracefully curved, painted blue with gold trim. It features a flat-front bow, modular cargo section, and engine block mounted low on the stern.
Variants[edit]
Demeter[edit]
Not featuring any fancy title, the basic version of the ship is the standard by which other variants are measured.
Demeter Hauler[edit]
Hauler variants of ships tend to have larger cargobays and sometimes tougher defences, trading off offensive combat attributes.
Demeter Miner[edit]
Miner variants of freighters can mount Mobile Drilling Systems in the rear turret. They come with Special Command Software, a Mineral Scanner, and an Ore Collector preinstalled.
Demeter Prototype[edit]
Prototypes are pre-production test vehicles. They often feature higher speed and shields to help protect the valuable investment.
Demeter Super Freighter[edit]
Super Freighter variants of TS-class ships tend to be slower, tougher, and carry more cargo than the base model.
Demeter Super Freighter XL[edit]
Super Freighter XL variants of TS-class ships are the slowest and toughest of all. They also carry the most cargo.
Demeter Tanker[edit]
Tanker variants of TS-class ships are slower, tougher, and carry more cargo than the basic model.
Unlike most Tanker models, the Demeter Tanker is statistically identical to the basic Demeter.
Combat[edit]
The Demeter is a freighter. Unless you fill it full of medium missiles it's not going to kill anything. Its best chance to survive if attacked is to sic fighter drones on the enemy and flee.
Equipment[edit]
- Missiles
- Disruptor Missile
- Hurricane Missile
- Remote Guided Warhead
- Silkworm Missile
- Wasp Missile
- Wildfire Missile
Availability[edit]
At least two Demeter variants are available at every Paranid Shipyard.

The Demeter Prototype cannot be bought, and must be captured. Some Paranid Weapons Transporters are Demeter Prototypes (check ship stats to determine if it is a prototype or standard variant).
Dukes Buccaneers[edit]
A decent source of free TS Transports and TP Personnel Transports in the early game is the Demeters and Hermes that appear as Duke's Freight Transporters and Dangerous Materials Transporters. The Demeters and Hermes may bail, gaining the player a free TS or TP. Since Duke's Buccaneers is a crime syndicate, attacking these vessels does not hurt your legal status with the major governments of the Commonwealth. In fact, destroying the vessels if they do not bail actually improves your status with them.
The only issue with doing this is that if you ever wish to work through the Duke's corporate missions for their reward ships, you'll first need to improve your relations with the pirates.
Suggested Roles[edit]
The Demeter works well selling goods from factories in any races' space.
