Overview[edit]
The Argon interceptor-class ship is highly regarded, as it is a good all rounder.
Background[edit]
The Argon Buster was once the pride of the Argon fleet and was instrumental in gaining the Argon victory in the Xenon Conflict. However, during the Boron campaign, it was superseded by the Argon Elite. Over the intervening years the design of the Argon Buster has been modified and new, more powerful engines have been fitted. Now updated, the Buster is again a firm favorite of the Argon Fighter Command.
The Buster is the oldest continually-serving ship in the Argon fleet. Introduced during the Xenon campaign, it proved its worth defending Argon space from Xenon incursions, and ever since has been updated regularly to ensure that it remains a top-of-the-line ship in its class.
Variants[edit]
Buster[edit]
Not featuring any fancy title, the basic version of the ship is the standard by which other variants are measured.
Buster Raider[edit]
Raider variants are faster and usually have a higher shield generator power than their regular counterparts, but trade off cargo capacity and some have reduced shield capacity despite the more powerful generator.
Buster Sentinel[edit]
Sentinel variants of ships tend to be slower, but with higher total shield capacity. Sometimes the shield class is also upgraded for instance from 25 MJ to 200 MJ.
Buster Vanguard[edit]
Vanguard variants of ships are slightly faster and have bigger weapons generators than their regular counterparts.
Pirate Buster[edit]
Pirate vessels are cobbled together from parts of captured ships. While often retaining the basic shape and configuration of the host vessel, pirate ships can be wildly different from the official variant, usually featuring unsanctioned weapons. Pirates sometimes decorate their ships with a distinctive flame motif.
Pirate Buster Hauler[edit]
Pirate vessels are cobbled together from parts of captured ships. While often retaining the basic shape and configuration of the host vessel, pirate ships can be wildly different from the official variant, usually featuring unsanctioned weapons. Pirates sometimes decorate their ships with a distinctive flame motif. Hauler variants of ships tend to have larger cargobays and sometimes tougher defences, trading off offensive combat attributes.
Physical Characteristics[edit]
Combat[edit]
The Buster mounts a number of useful weapons: the Phased Repeater Gun is an excellent mainstream weapon for destroying other light fighters; the PAC works well too and is much, much cheaper; whilst those with a bent for more specialist weapons can equip their Busters with Mass Drivers to neutralise the contribution of an enemy's shields.
