Overview

The Mobile Mining Base-Ship (usually abbreviated "MMBS") is the commonly available Terran TL. In performance it is virtually identical to the Argon Mammoth.

Background

This ship serves as a base ship for nearby mining vessels, which break up asteroids in the sector, retrieve any valuable resources, and then unload them at this ship.

Physical Characteristics

This ship looks very similar to the M1 Tokyo, with a large saucer section on the starboard side of a long main hull. However, the MMBS's bow is a different shape, a right triangle instead of a cluster of antennae.

Combat

The MMBS can mount the Point Singularity Projector in its flank turrets, which actually gives it respectable fighting prowess. 2x rear SSC give it some anti-fighter ability as well. Even a frigate must think twice before engaging one of these ships.

Equipment

As its name implies, the MMBS is designed mainly for mining. As such, it comes stock with the full set of equipment for mobile mining. In addition to combat weaponry can simultaneously mount 4xMDS.

Availability

This ship is a potential reward during the Aldrin Expansion plot. It can also be boarded in the form of Terran Ice Miners, which may net you an Ice Harvesting Facility in the bargain.

Variants

A variant called Ice Miner can be found in Terran space. Can be captured to obtain Ice Mining L Facility if it happens to be carrying one.
