Despite being the most expensive M2 in the game prior to the M2+ ships of Albion Prelude, the Odysseus is a powerful destroyer well worth its expense. It has comparable stats to its rival M2s, but its unique shape combined with its ability to mount the deadly Phased Shockwave Generator make the Odysseus a particularly effective force of destruction. The Odysseus is expensive to purchase and equip, and its PSG armament is hazardous to its allies as well as its foes, so the Odysseus is not frequently used as part of of larger fleet actions.
This destroyer is the pride of the Paranid Fleet. It was developed from an earlier model used by the Paranid in their alliance with the Split in the Boron Campaign. It is believed this ship was last updated during the threat of conflict between the Paranid and the Split.
Big, round and flat, the Odysseus sports the typical Paranid appearance: smooth lines and brownish bodywork, with criss-crossing lines as decoration.
When equipped with Phased Shockwave Generators the Odysseus is a very anti-social warship, ripping apart friend and foe alike without too much discrimination. Nevertheless, the sheer violence and destructive power of this armament makes the Odysseus a prime choice for pilots with who want to fly solo in an enemy sector.
|Variant||Paranid Prime||Trinity Sanctum||Third Redemption||Cardinal's Domain||Duke's Citadel||Heaven's Assertion|
The Odysseus is best deployed on its own, as its PSG armaments are likely to cause significant friendly casualties. This makes it a good candidate for player piloting, or for use against swarms of enemy fighters.
