Overview

The Gangrene Chaser, known by the Argons as Raptor, is a large, fast carrier (bested barely by only the Yaki Hoshi), and is a favorite in its class. Though lacking shielding, its speed allows for the battlefield mobility to evade combat with most ships which can trouble it. Its 65-fighter hangar is unmatched by any ship in the game.

Background

The Raptor is the Split carrier ship. It first made an appearance in the war against the Boron when it proved to be effective but vulnerable to attack from beneath. It is believed that, over the intervening years, the Split have redesigned the ship to eliminate this problem. Normally these ships are commanded by high-ranking Split officers related by kin to the ruling family clan. Generally they are even more abrasive and arrogant than other members of their race.

Physical Characteristics

The Raptor looks virtually identical to the TL Elephant and the M2 Python: a long rusty-red metal slab, taller than it is wide, with an underslung "keel".

Combat

The Raptor has the largest hangar bays of any M1 Carrier, but suffers the usual Split ship handicap of low shield strength. Thankfully its high speed allows it to escape a tricky situation more readily than other M1s.
